FastTrac closing system

FastTrac Closing System

The FastTrac Closing System is an advanced 2-stage closing system designed to optimize seed-to-soil contact and enhance crop yield potential.

Stage 1: Side Wall Elimination

This stage uses inverted angled closing disks to consistently replace and cover soil, placing high-moisture soil directly around the seed where it’s needed most. This ensures improved soil contact and moisture retention.

Stage 2: Remove Air Pockets/Level Seed Bed

A firming leveling press wheel is employed to ensure proper seed-to-soil contact for uniform emergence. The chevron pattern on the press wheel provides stress crack relief in crusting soils and channels water to the root zone, promoting healthy root development.

FastTrac vs. “V” Closing Wheels

John Deere planters typically come equipped with “V” closing wheels, which tend to pinch dry, crusty topsoil back into the trench, resulting in a compacted sidewall and a hard crust that impedes seed development. In contrast, FastTrac eliminates air pockets with a zero-pressure press wheel, leading to faster seed germination and more uniform emergence. The result is a healthier crop with more uniform growth, increased tonnage, and consistent sugar content.

Durability and Installation

Each FastTrac wheel features independent suspension, ensuring the wheel stays in place and eliminating free wheel spin. The tread creates a line that helps emerging plants push through crusty soil, facilitating growth. FastTrac bolts directly onto John Deere planters, offering a straightforward and durable upgrade.

BECKS PFR Proven Performance

Over three years of multi-location testing, FastTrac has demonstrated an average gain of +2.6 bushels per acre in corn compared to John Deere's standard closing wheels.

Optional Fertilizer Tubes

The FastTrac 2X2X2 system allows for accurate and easy application of liquid fertilizer at planting time. Fertilizer is streamed directly into the root zone, providing rapid access for the plant and boosting early-stage growth.

Fertilizer Placement

The Fertilizer Tubes position the fertilizer 1.5–2″ deep, 2-3″ from the seed trench, ensuring nutrients are placed where the roots can access them immediately. This method reduces waste by preventing splatter on the planter row unit and ensures efficient fertilizer use.
