Closing wheel arm exchange

from Solid Rock

A key factor in achieving uniform seed emergence is ensuring that your closing wheels remain centered over the seed trench. When the wheels are misaligned, it leads to uneven trench closure, poor seed-to-soil contact, and potentially compacted soil layers that hinder plant growth.

The Problem with Worn John Deere Closing Arms

One common issue with John Deere closing wheel systems is how quickly the bushings on the closing arms wear out. As they wear, the resulting slop in the arms leads to vibration, reducing the effectiveness of the closing wheels as they run through the field. While replacing the bushings can temporarily improve performance, over time, the wear extends into the arms themselves, requiring full arm replacements along with the bushings.

The Solution: Our Closing Wheel Rebuild Kits

Our closing wheel rebuild kits address this issue by replacing the standard bushings with a more durable collar and bearing system. This design completely eliminates any slop in the arm, resulting in smoother and more consistent trench closure. The upgrade is also a cost-effective solution, providing an easy-to-replace wear part that simplifies future maintenance.

Rebuilt Arms with Our Exchange Program

We offer a convenient exchange program for rebuilt closing wheel arms. Our team rebuilds the arms with welded collars and bearings, powder coats them for enhanced durability, and reassembles them with new hardware. Each rebuilt arm also includes our custom-designed, high-wear downpressure springs for improved performance. Simply drop off your old arms, and we’ll swap them out with fully rebuilt and ready-to-go replacements.

DIY Option: Rebuild Kits Available

For those who prefer to do the work themselves, we offer a rebuild kit that includes everything needed to weld the collar and retrofit your closing arms at your own shop.
